OUR STORY

The Alder Inn is located in a building that was instrumental in the the early days of Babbitt Minnesota.  The building was originally built by Reserve Mining as a "staff house" for those visiting or working at the newly opened mine. When the mine closed in the 1980's, the building was purchased and re-purposed as a private Inn. The current owners, Billie & Mike Rouse came to the BWCAW for their honeymoon in 1976 and fell in love with the lakes and woods of northeastern Minnesota and moved to Birch Lake in 1991. In 1995, they purchased the Alder Inn and have enjoyed hosting guests ever since!
